Food safety is an increasingly important public health issue. Governments around the world are stepping up their efforts to improve food safety to meet the growing food safety concerns and consumer concerns. Definition of foodborne illness: A foodborne illness is a disease caused by a substance (usually contagious or toxic) that enters the body through food. Everyone is at risk of food-borne illness. The number of foodborne diseases: Foodborne disease is a widespread and growing public health problem that exists in both developed and developing countries.
