Within the Chinese professional sport system, priority on the development of athletic skills often eclipses attention to the athletes fundamental education outside of their sport.While multiple scholars have studied the ways in which elite Chinese athletes are impacted by the limited academic and social education they receive at the expense of their physical training (Di, 2011;Gou, 2010;Xu & Xue, 2011),very few studies have examined this conflict from the perspective of the athletes themselves.
