Daily life, repeated and transmitted from generation to generation, is manifested in the fields of material, habit, and language, and is also an important part of urban culture. Observing the daily life of Yangzhou City at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China through the novel “Guangling Tide”, we can see that all the changes took place in different aspects: on the material level, not only many imported commodities appeared, but also the cities of Shanghai and Zhenjiang; The division of labor in the traditional society tends to disintegrate and the middle and lower classes face the dilemma of increasing cost of living. At the habitual level, the traditional customs still play an important role, but the impact of the “civilized” custom has begun the process of new and old run-in.
