Through the analysis of the religious concepts in Yeats’ poems, this paper argues that Yeats recognizes the identity of Irish Church as he belongs to his own family and agrees with the sense of belonging of “Protestant superiority class” reflected by this identity. Yeats favored the state religion at an early stage and held the opinion of Catholicism. In the medium term, he advocated the concept of equality of all religions, that is, the believers and Catholics were “equal before God” and the later returned to their early years, that is, they tended to state religion to criticize Catholicism. This attitude change reflected in Yeats poetry is closely related to the poet’s personal experience and the background of the times.
