Japan is a country where earthquake disasters are very frequent. During the year, there were many small earthquakes in large earthquakes. However, the number of casualties in earthquakes was small. This is also true in history, especially in modern times and especially in the era of modern science and technology. The Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995, with a magnitude of 7.6, caused a great deal of damage but not many casualties. The number of deaths in the earthquake hit more than 6,500. Other earthquakes have fewer casualties, usually no more than three digits, and some do not even have deaths, only the wounded.
