要对网络信息资源进行更好的管理和查询,首先要建立一种合理的信息资源描述机制。metadata是描述网络信息资源的有力工具,但新的信息描述机制——linking机制不仅能表述metadata的内容,而且可以表达比metada更丰富的语义,弥补metadata自身不能克服的一些缺陷。 To better manage and query network information resources, we must first establish a reasonable description mechanism of information resources. Metadata is a powerful tool for describing network information resources. However, the new information description mechanism --linking mechanism not only can express the content of metadata, but also can express richer semantics than metada to make up for some shortcomings that metadata itself can not overcome.
