在中西文化冲突的压力之下,清末民初的中国社会出现种种变革,由语言文字变革所产生的国语运动也是其中一个重要表现。本文主要选取陆费逵为个案来分析近代的文化出版商人在这场国语运动中的建树。作为一位热心教育的爱国人士,陆费逵自然投身其间,发表了一系列文章来表达自己对于文字改良、国语统一的主张,他提出的使用简笔字的主张在当时具有开创性意义。除此之外,他还凭借其出版商人的特殊身份,从实践层面来推动国语运动。陆费逵的行为很好地诠释了他作为文化商人的双重身份,实现了在兼顾中华书局经营利润的同时,又承担了一个出版文化部门所应当担负的责任。
Under the pressure of the conflict between Chinese and Western cultures, various changes have taken place in Chinese society during the late Qing Dynasty and early the Republic of China. The Mandarin movement resulting from the change of language and writing is also an important manifestation. This article mainly chooses Lu Feijie as a case study to analyze the achievements made by modern cultural publishers in this Mandarin movement. As a zealous educated patriot, Lu Feizhe naturally joined in and published a series of articles to express his own opinion on the improvement of Chinese characters and the unity of the Chinese language. His proposition of using simple Chinese characters was groundbreaking at the time. In addition, he also promoted the Mandarin Campaign from a practical point of view with his publisher’s unique identity. Tucker’s behavior well explains his dual identity as a cultural businessman and achieves the responsibility that should be borne by a publishing and cultural department while taking into account the operating profit of Zhonghua Book Company.
