1937年7月7日卢沟桥事变后,冀察政务委员会、北平市政府被日本扶植的北京地方维持会所取代,北平地方市面混乱,民生凋蔽。北平市商会①作为北平地方商人团体,在国家政权出现断层、民众生计岌岌可危之际进行了一系列维持民食民生的社会活动。本文旨在突破已有商会史研究局限于政治范畴、纠缠于理论框架讨论的状况,通过利用档案、旧报刊等新材料,关注商会的社会活动,考察此一时期商会作为重要的商民团体的社会角色以及商人的价值取向。
