Virgin in the Garden is the first of the A.S. Byatt women’s four-part novels written by British contemporary author. Some comments have pointed out that the novel combines realism and fictionalism, with the characteristics of intertwined realism and experimentalism. Based on this, this article further analyzes the embodiment of reality and fiction in the text. The realistic life of the main character in the novel and its inner text - a poem drama about the Queen Elizabeth II - are mixed and rehearsed. The actual characters and imaginary images are intertwined, the realistic tradition and the postmodern skills are fused with each other, Conflict and balance between fiction become the tension of the entire work.
