在汉语和英语这两种语言中,表示各种不同颜色或色彩的词有很多。人类对于颜色的感觉有一定的共性,但不同民族由于生活环境、心理因素、宗教政治信仰、思维方式、价值取向等文化因素的不同,人们总是按照自己的思维定势和价值尺度赋予描绘事物的颜色词自己民族独特的文化内涵,这样就导致了人们对各种颜色的价值判断和实际运用的巨大差异即所谓的“色差”。本文主要以“白色”为例,分析其在英汉中的不同联想意义并探寻其文化历史根源,以便更好地了解中西方民族文化的差异,使其对英语学习及对促进中西文化交流和翻译实践有一定的现实指导意义。
