当代大学生的群体特征、社会失范、严峻的就业压力等因素使他们的学习旨趣具有明显的功利性、被动性、“泡沫化”、重视实践和厌恶说教等特征。社会学的课程设置与教学应依据当前的社会情境、学生的学习旨趣特征进行相应的调整,遵循循序渐进的原则,理论联系实际,培养其自学的基本能力与习惯,通过课堂上的演示和课外的实践,提高社会现象、社会问题的洞察力。
