设立于1917年的普利策小说奖是美国历史最悠久的文学奖项。本文从文化批评视角对该奖项的评选标准、价值倾向、获奖作品主题内核、获奖作家身份轨迹等方面进行系统分析,试图耙梳普利策小说奖对“美国性”作出的动态阐释,论证美国性所特有的文化核心性和场域开放性在该奖项中的表征,以揭示文化机构和文学作品在构建美国民族特性中的重要作用。
The Pulitzer Prize, established in 1917, is America’s oldest literary prize. From the perspective of cultural criticism, this article systematically analyzes the selection criteria, value tendencies, the subject core of award-winning works, identity track of award-winning writers and other aspects, attempts to make a dynamic interpretation of “Americanity ” by Pulitzer Prize, The demonstration of the cultural core and field openness characteristic of the American nature in this award shows the important role of cultural institutions and literary works in building the American national identity.
