“春凳”是一种明清流行的家居器物,只是一种宽而长的凳子,并无靠背。凳面多用攒边做法,通常可供两人同坐或一人躺卧,亦可用作摆放器物的家具。但“春凳”又不仅是家居器物,还寄予着人们对美好生活的向往与追求,有着丰富的社会文化内涵。正因如此,“春凳”频繁出现于明清乃至现当代小说之中。准确理解“春凳”的特征及其特有内涵,才能深刻体味它在小说中除了满足场景描写的需求外,所承载的当时人们特有的家居行为方式和社会文化心理,才能感受到它所渗透着的小说家细腻的情感痕迹与精心的艺术构思。
