Endoribonuclease-III is an important enzyme involved in gene regulation. It is a general term for a large family of systems that includes many different members. They are widely present in various forms ranging from prokaryotes to eukaryotes In vivo. The enzyme digestion products Small interfering RNA (siRNA) is the start of RNA interference (RNAi) effector molecules; and the other enzymes of the enzyme microRNA (miRNA) can play both siRNA RNAi effect, can also cause Translation inhibition. Depending on the protein domain of the enzyme, the endonuclease-III family can be divided into three different species. With the further elucidation of the structure and function of endonuclease-III, the technology associated with endonuclease-III will have broad application prospects in gene function research, disease treatment and drug development in the post-genomic era.
