“Song of Sad Cafe” (1943) is a choreographed masterpiece by the southern American woman writer Carson McCullers. Many critics view it as a vivid fable that shows the universal living conditions of humankind but often neglects its utopian overthrow of the real social hierarchy. This article intends to place the theme of the “sad song of cafe” in the perspective provided by Bakhtin’s carnivalization theory and attempts to discuss the concept of dual sexism of patriarchal society brought by the cafe to the southern town As well as the huge impact on the gender order of feminist ideals caused by the resurgence of patriarchal power in American real life after World War II.
