随着选秀类节目被国家广电总局叫停,曾经风靡中国的选秀大潮一去不返,然而,不甘寂寞的荧屏又掀起了平民K歌潮。从2008年下半年开始,K歌类节目占据了各省级卫视娱乐节目的半壁江山,如湖南卫视的《挑战麦克风》、浙江卫视的《我爱记歌词》和《我是大评委》、江苏卫视的《谁敢来唱歌》、山东卫视的《先声夺人》等等,它们虽极力与选秀节目撇清关系注入新的内容与形式,形成为“后选秀时代”娱乐节目模式,但又借鉴了选秀节目的许多经验,如海选、造星等,它们力求再次降低节目的门槛,达到全民参与。在这个“选秀”逐渐衰退的时代,脱胎于“选秀”的K歌类节目却能如此走红,必定有其区别于其它娱乐节目的优势。
