Objective To understand the cognitive level and clinical practice of neurosurgical nurses on Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), analyze the factors influencing the correct implementation of GCS, and provide the basis for further regulating the evaluation of GCS. Methods Sixty neurosurgery nurses in two tertiary hospitals in Fujian Province were randomly selected to conduct a survey of their current status by using the “Nurses’ Cognitive Questionnaire on Glasgow Coma Scale”. Results The cognition difference of GCS between nurses of different ages, different professional titles and different neurosurgery years of work was statistically significant (P <0.01). The nurses’ average scores of knowledge of 2 years and below in neurosurgery were 9 and 10 years The average score of 11.2 points. Conclusion It is necessary to pay attention to the uniformity and accuracy of nursing staff in GCS assessment and systematize the training of clinical neurosurgical nurses in GCS so as to standardize the assessment of clinical nursing GCS.
