To the editor:The current standard therapy for malignant glioma includes surgical resection of the maximum safe range plus subsequent radiotherapy and concurrent temozolamide therapy, then adjuvant chemotherapy. However, even with such aggressive therapy, the prognosis remains poor, and most patients relapse.1 It was found that progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of patients who received surgical treatment for tumor progression were similar to that of patients who received non-surgical treatment, suggesting that palliative treatment for glioma progression may be an altative strategy.
