Crossing the Lancang River spanning the towering mountain towering, steep terrain, the distribution of dangerous rocks and collapsible deposits on both sides of the cliff, its geographical location vulnerable to collapsing rocks, rockfall impact will cause pipeline scratches, pressure pit, caused by Pipe deformation instability or even rupture, resulting in oil leakage. This paper takes the Lancangjiang River crossing pipeline and the rockfall on both sides as the research object. Firstly, Roc Fall software is used to establish the numerical simulation model of the rockfall movement, and the influence of the rockfall quality on the rockfall movement is analyzed. Then the CAESAR II software is used to analyze the natural gas pipeline along the Lancangjiang River and determine the rockfall quality threshold that will make it in a dangerous (or destroyed) state. The results of the study can provide scientific advice for Lancang River’s decision of prevention of pipeline rockfall disaster and pipeline safety operation. It can also provide guidance and reference for the pipeline engineering design, laying construction and the above dangerous rock protection planning with similar geographical conditions as the Lancang River pipeline.
