Suzanne Moody is a very influential woman writer in early Canadian English literature whose important work, The Hard Years in the Jungle, records her earlier immigration to Canada. The author’s choice and modification of linguistic terms and his comments on Britain and Canada imply her marginalization in cultural identity. Into the contemporary, Susanna Moody and her works as a writing material to be absorbed and utilized by a new generation of Canadian writers, a symbol of the collective consciousness of Canadians. Through the investigation of this case, it can be seen that cultural identity is an important issue for studying Canadian English literature and the impact of early immigration literature on Canadian contemporary literature.
