In this paper, the lattice energy, the Born-Hubble cycle and its application in inorganic chemistry are introduced and discussed in detail.The Born-Haber cycle combined with the lattice energy calculation can be used to find out the electronic affinities of species Proton affinities, enthalpies of formation and thermochemical radii of ionic compounds. In particular it can be used to guide inorganic synthesis.
