2016年1月31日,随着国务院下发《关于同意乌力吉口岸对外开放的批复》,位于中蒙边境246界标附近的乌力吉口岸,引起越来越多人的关注。该口岸的我国一侧为内蒙古自治区阿拉善左旗乌力吉苏木,蒙古国一侧为南戈壁省呼日门苏木查干德勒乌拉。口岸距离宁夏回族自治区首府银川市,也只有500公里。蒙古语中,乌力吉为“吉祥、美好”之意。历史上,乌力吉就是我国内蒙古及宁夏等周边地区群众与蒙古国牧民双方调剂余缺、互通有无的贸易场所,也是双方当地群众走亲访友的一条民间交往
