Urban Subcenter Design Viseu is located in a mountainous landscape in Portugal, southeast of Porto. Built by the Romans, the city is strategically located on a hillside near Linhe. Since then, the Roman heritage and the remains of Christianity have been mixed together over time. For example, in the 13th century people built cathedrals on the highest point of the Roman defensive walls. The Roman city wall, which became the city’s wall in the 13th century, is now preserved intact. The Vitoria Valley, now a defensive fortification, is now a large pentagon park on the outskirts of the city center.
