The thermal recording properties of thermal recording materials composed of microencapsulated alkaline leuco dye and phenolic developer and the thermal properties of microcapsule walls and other components are introduced. Due to the interaction between the phenolic color-developing agent and the microcapsule wall, the melting temperature Tm of the phenolic color-developing agent and the glass transition temperature Tg of the microcapsule are greatly reduced. The lowest coloration temperature is consistent with the higher of the lower Tm and Tg.
