天荒坪抽水蓄能电站位于浙江省安吉县境内，距杭州５７ｋｍ，接近华东电网的负荷中心。电站上下库主要挡水建筑物均为土石坝，电站采用２条斜井式钢筋混凝土衬砌的高压管道，每条高压管道通过钢筋混凝土岔管接３根钢衬高压管道，引水进入机组。电站的主副厂房、主变洞、母线道、尾水闸门洞、通风和５００ｋＶ电缆竖井等建筑物均布置于地下洞室群中。５００ｋＶ开关站、地面ＧＩＳ室及中控楼等布置于下库左岸进／出水口３５０．２ｍ高程平台上。电站安装６台立轴单级可逆混流式水泵水轮机，发电电动机为立轴悬式、空冷、可逆式三相同步电机。电站以５００ｋＶ一级电压接入华东电网。
Tianhuangping Pumped Storage Power Station is located in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, away from Hangzhou, 57km, close to the East China Power Grid load center. The main water retaining structures in the upper and lower banks of the power plant are earth-rock dam. The power station adopts two high-pressure pipes lined with incline-type reinforced concrete. Each high-pressure pipe is connected with 3 steel lined high-pressure pipes through the reinforced concrete bifurcation and leads into the unit. The main and auxiliary power plants, main transformer tunnel, bus lane, tail gate, ventilation and 500kV cable shaft and other buildings are arranged in underground caverns. 500kV switchgear, ground GIS room and the control building and other layout in the lower bank left bank inlet / outlet 350.2m elevation platform. The power station installs 6 vertical single-stage reversible Francis pump turbines. The generator motor is a vertical shaft suspension, air-cooled and reversible three-phase synchronous motor.
