As early as the signing of the GATT in 1947, the predecessor of the World Trade Organization (WTO), India was one of the initiators of the agreement. Therefore, as the WTO officially came into being, India also made its way into the list of its founding member states and its 25 “major member states.” After decades of fiddling with the world’s multilateral trading system, India has tasted some sweetness and has to swallow some bitter fruit, but above all, it has learned a lot of tricks and understood more and more how it should use the WTO mechanism Promote their own economic development while protecting the domestic industries from the impact of imported goods.
