在犯罪现场靠肉眼发现潜在生物物证比较困难,特别是那些现场清洗过的血迹、精斑、唾液、汗液肉眼更是难以发现,而现有的刑侦光源在便携性、准确性上存在不足。而使用荧光分光光度计200nm—850nm激发光,以上4种体液能够发生固有荧光光谱响应,将其应用于现场勘查可有助于发现潜在物证。
