中国国家博物馆为北京天安门地区重要的文化中心。原国家博物馆建造于20世纪50年代,现已经无法适应现代文化宣传的需要。从2004年开始,历时7年的中国国家博物馆改扩建为这座历史文化建筑带来了新的生机。通过对新、旧建筑交接部位的精心设计,在新、老之间寻求最佳结合点,将保留改造的老建筑与扩建的新建筑交融一体,使其成为一个完整的现代化大型博览建筑,最大限度地保护历史建筑中含有的珍贵历史信息,同时又能适应和满足现代化的各项需要。
The National Museum of China is an important cultural center in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. The original National Museum was built in the 1950s and is no longer able to adapt to the needs of modern cultural propaganda.
