近几年激光技术在医学领域应用越来越广泛。有些专业(譬如眼科)已开设门诊,目前在心血管病方面也出现了新的治疗可能性。 1986年6月26～28日,在维也纳附近的巴登举行了第一次大会,主要讨论了激光在心脏和血管外科以及冠心病学中的应用。该会由维也纳第二外科大学医院和加利福尼亚的斯坦福大学心脏科组织。会议约有二十个国家的五十位报告人和一百三十位代表参加。
In recent years, laser technology is more and more widely used in medical field. Some professions (such as ophthalmology) have opened clinics and new therapeutic possibilities are emerging in the area of cardiovascular disease. The first conference held in Baden, near Vienna, June 26-28, 1986, focused on the use of lasers in heart and vascular surgery and in coronary heart disease. It is organized by the Second Surgery University Hospital in Vienna and the Cardiology Section of Stanford University in California. Fifty speakers and 130 delegates from about 20 countries attended the meeting.
