冯友兰将历史区分为“客观的历史”和“主观的历史”。他在主张历史客观性的同时,指出历史的连续性和统一性,现实是历史的延续。传统是历史上主观精神所创造的产物,是历史的重要组成部分,参与了历史的建构。传统与历史共同成为民族精神联续的纽带。冯友兰的历史本质论是受其“新理学”哲学立场决定的。在他看来,历史在本质上就是受到“理”的贯注、由诸多历史事物组成的有机体。冯友兰主张历史的连续性和统一性,弘扬中国历史文化的生命力,体现了他维护和发展儒家文化的新儒家立场。
Feng Youlan divided history into “objective history” and “subjective history.” While advocating the objectivity of history, he pointed out the continuity and unity of history. The reality is a continuation of history. Tradition is the product of the subjective spirit in history, an important part of history, and participates in the construction of history. Together, tradition and history have become the bond between the national spirits. Feng Youlan’s theory of historical essence is determined by his “neo-Confucianism” philosophy. In his view, history is, in essence, an organism that is dominated by “reason ” and composed of many historical things. Feng Youlan advocated the continuity and unity of history, carried forward the vitality of Chinese history and culture, and embodied his new Confucian standpoint of safeguarding and developing Confucian culture.
