The traditional drama of China and Japan is called “the same root and all flowers”. Kunqu opera in China has a history of more than 600 years, while the Japanese kabuki has a history of nearly four hundred years. Yang Guifei is a very important artistic image in the history of drama between China and Japan. After hundreds of years of continuous evolution, her body has concentrated a lot of heavy cultural elements. Although both Japan’s Kabuki and China’s Kunqu opera retain their own unique characteristics and similarities, although both China and Japan are well-connected, the perspectives and attitudes of the two countries on the understanding of this figure are quite different. The differences between Japanese drama culture and its causes play an important role.
