仔细鉴别和研究组成火山机构各部分的物质组成和结构构造,是确定火山口-火山颈的重要基础工作之一;这些特征也是鉴定它的岩相、岩石标志.火山口、火山颈中的充填物质不同,所以表现出来的种种特征也不尽一样.一般把火山口-火山颈中的充填物分为熔岩型、火山碎屑岩型和混合型三类.
