香蒲科植物药用其花粉，中药称为蒲黄。蒲黄始载于《神农本草经》，《本草纲目》列入水草类，1963年以来的历版《中国药典》均有收载，具有止血、化瘀、通淋的功效。若在产地加工时剪取雄花序，晒干，拣去花茎，成为带有雄花的花粉，则称为草蒲黄。在部份省（市）称草蒲黄入药 The Poaceae family medicinally uses its pollen and the Chinese medicine is called Puhuang. Puhuang was first included in the “Shen Nong’s Materia Medica” and the “Compendium of Materia Medica” was included in aquatic plants. If male inflorescences are cut at the processing site, sun dried, and the stems are picked to become pollen with male flowers, it is called puhuang.
