Objective To investigate the changes and correlations of S-100B protein and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) levels in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of neonates with intracranial hemorrhage. Methods Sixty-four pediatric patients were selected, of which 44 were neonates with intracranial hemorrhage. Twenty children with non-neonatal intracranial hemorrhage were selected as the control group. Serum and cerebrospinal fluid levels of S-100B protein and MMP-2 in the two groups were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) double antibody sandwich method. Results The levels of S-100B protein and MMP-2 in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid of children in experimental group were significantly higher than those in control group (P <0.05). The more bleeding, children with plasma and cerebrospinal fluid S-100B protein content higher. Conclusion Both S-100B protein and MMP-2 are involved in the pathological process of brain injury in neonatal intracranial hemorrhage, which is related to the severity of brain injury and can be used as a reference index for disease monitoring and prognosis.
