《汉书·艺文志》在中国学术史上具有十分重要的意义,古今学人多将其视为“考镜源流,辨章学术”的上乘之作,但就其实际成书过程及其六分法的体系来看,简单的称其为学术史著作似较为不妥。《汉书·艺文志》是在官藏书籍的整理过程中产生的,藏书目录是其原始和基本功能;刘歆虽在其中尤其是《诸子略》中倾注了自己的学术关怀,加入了一些考辨源流的文字,使之部分具有了学术史的功能,但仍不能完全撼动《汉书·艺文志》书籍目录的基本性质。《汉书·艺文志》是目录学与学术史双重标准的产物,但其作为目录的功能更为明显,学界对其学术史的推崇有进一步界定和澄清的必要。 “Han Yi Wen Zhi” is of great significance in the academic history of China.
