Walter Morel is the image of husband and father in Lawrence’s autobiographical novel Sons and Lovers. For a long time, he was seen as a man who destroyed the atmosphere of his marriage and family. Scholars and readers generally believe that his alcoholism and temper temper made him personally destroyed his marriage. And his wife, Ghidde Morel, is often considered the victim of this marriage and the object to whom sympathy should be given. This article explores the real causes of Marilyn’s marriage breakdown and subsequently reveals that the miner Walter Morel is the real sympathetic person in the novel. Using Marxist theory of society and political economy, this article reveals that the class differences between the capitalist society and the Morel couple are the culprits in the destruction of their marriage.
