耒和耜是远古两种不同的农业生产工具。虽然这两种工具在黄河流域直至现代还保留着特殊的应用形态，然而追溯其起源可能在旧石器时代。据研究这两种工具都与中国华夏民族远古的薏苡图腾崇拜有关，这种图腾崇拜也能很好地解释为什么后人将耒与耜认为一物的原因。 耒 and 耜 are ancient two different agricultural tools. Although these two kinds of tools still retain special application forms in the Yellow River valley up to the present, its origin may be traced back to Palaeolithic times. According to the research, both of these tools are related to the ancient Chinese Coix totem worship of Chinese Huaxia people. This totem worship can also well explain the reason why future generations think that they should be considered as one.
