Domestication and alienation are two basic methods in English-Chinese translation. The difference between them is whether to use the primitive language or the foreign language expression in the translation process. Domestication is easy to be accepted and understood by readers, but it comes at the cost of sacrificing a large number of cultural attachments. Dissimilatory translation plays a positive role in keeping faithful to the original text, promoting cultural exchange and absorbing foreign words. The two complement each other, both indispensable, in the translation of idioms should be two methods and use.
