Before the Tang Dynasty, Japan had been a Chinese teacher and learned from China, including China’s system, costumes, etiquette and writing, so we can obviously find that there are many Chinese characters in Japanese. However, in modern times, Japan conducted a text reform that required the use of pseudonyms and Roman words instead of the use of Chinese characters. This paper studies the reform of modern Japanese literature from the social background and process of reform in modern Japanese writing, the status quo of Japanese writing reform and the reasons for the current usage of Japanese writing in Japan.
