雷蒙德·梅森(Raymond Mason,1922年生)是出生在工业革命发祥地伯明翰的英国人,但因他自1946年起便定居巴黎,成为法国战后艺坛的重要人物,其姓名便按法语读音变成了雷蒙·马松。 马松早年先后在伯明翰、伦敦和牛津的美术院校学习素描和绘画,以后受马约尔影响而喜爱上雕塑。1946年,得到法国政府的奖学金,入巴黎高等美术学院雕刻名家马塞尔·吉蒙(Marcel Gimond,1894年生,1961年卒。他也是我国旅法艺术家熊秉明的老师)的工作室,学习一年。巴黎留住了这位英国青年,使他将自己的一生事业系于这座艺术之都。
Raymond Mason (born 1922), an Englishman born in Birmingham, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, but whose name has been pronounced in French since he settled in Paris in 1946 as a key figure in post-war French art Becomes Ramon Masson.
