唐书璇是六七十年代香港重要的一位女导演。曾创办《大特写》(《电影双周刊》前身)。在1969年至1979年间执导了四部电影:《董夫人》、《再见中国》、《十三不搭》及《暴发户》。唐书璇不管是挪用艺术片或商业片的外观与格局,均表达出她独特的对社会现实政治历史、人际关系的思考,充满对人性在困境中求存挣扎的悲悯,及对一切看似美好现象的终极绝望。唐书璇也是华语电影史上极少数的对性别议题有持续深思的导演之一;对性政治跟对社会政治的关切紧紧扣连。
Tang Shu-hsuan was an important female director in Hong Kong in the 1960s and 1970s. Have founded “big feature” (“movie double weekly” predecessor). From 1969 to 1979, he directed four films: “Madame Tung”, “Goodbye China”, “Thirteen Wrong” and “Upstart”. Regardless of the appearance and pattern of embezzlement of art films or commercial films, Tang Shu Xuan expresses her unique thinking on political realities and interpersonal relationships in social reality, full of sympathy for the struggles of human nature struggling in difficulties, Ultimate despair. Tang Shu-hsang is also one of the few directors in the history of Chinese movie that has pondered on the issue of gender. He has also closely linked sexual politics with social politics.
