广东外语外贸大学是1995年6月由原广州外国语学院和原广州对外贸易学院合并组建的广东省涉外型重点大学。原广州外国语学院成立于1965年,是国家教育部直接管理的3所外语院校之一。原广州对外贸易学院成立于1980年,是国家对外贸易经济合作部直接管理的4所外贸院校之一。
Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was a key foreign-related university in Guangdong Province established in June 1995 by the merger of the former Guangzhou Foreign Languages Institute and the former Guangzhou Foreign Trade Institute. The former Guangzhou Foreign Languages Institute was established in 1965 and is one of three foreign-language institutions directly managed by the State Ministry of Education. The former Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade was founded in 1980 and is one of four foreign trade universities under the direct administration of the State Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
