《戏剧报》编辑部为了配合关于《火烧红莲寺》的争论,打算把我的这篇短文重新刊登,问我有无修改。我没有看过最近改编的京剧《火烧红莲寺》,因此,也就没有资格加入今天对《火烧红莲寺》的论战。但如就《江湖奇侠传》或《火烧红莲寺》的主题思想和倾向性而言,我今天还是坚持三十年前的拙见。本文末了提到《火烧红莲寺》影片当时曾被国民党政府禁止放映,今天的青年们大概不知道有过这件事。反动的国民党政府当时何以要禁《火烧红莲寺》,我这篇短文中有一点分析,事实后来证明,国民党反动派之所以“不喜欢”现实中决不能有的“红姑”或“金罗汉”,是因为他们正在计划培养现实中可以有的“红姑”或“金罗汉”,—这就是“军统”和“中统”的那些特务。
