土楼是福建西南部以永定为中心的客家人民居。这种民居因其独特的外形而享誉海内外,被称为“世界民居的奇葩”。它是由北方战乱而南迁的移民建造的。由于南迁这些移民与当地土著人融洽而形成汉民族的另一民系———“客家人”。在异域的荒野中,客家人采用生土夯筑形成自己的独特家园———土楼。土楼历史悠久、形态各异、布局合理、坚固耐用。它不仅组成了一道美丽的景观,更构成了独特的“土楼文化”。 Tulou is the southwestern part of Fujian Yongding as the center of Hakka people’s dwelling houses.
