As a major event in the history of the United States, the Civil War has had a profound impact on the process of the modernization of the United States and the establishment of national identity. In particular, it has caused tremendous turmoil in the southern society and the economic system, greatly changing the fate and life of the southerners the way. As a native Southern writer, Robert Pen Warren’s creative thinking and literary works are also deeply influenced by the civil war. This influence can be traced back to his early life experiences. He wrote a profound reflexion of the civil war into his political work “the Legacy of the Civil War.” His many novels and poems are both about the civil war history in North and South. The North-South conflict also became a Warren One of the core themes in the work. Reflecting on the civil war, Warren formed a profound and unique view of history, leaving him with a solemn historical legacy and giving his work a profound sense of history.
