2005年4月12日,江苏省连云港市中级人民法院对该市教育局原局长杨善德受贿一案依法公开进行审判,被告杨善德因受贿人民币118．9万元、美金1．7万元、欧元5000元、房屋一套、价值1．72万元的东芝手提电脑一台,被判处有期徒刑十五年,追缴受贿所得,并处没收财产70万元;追缴非法所得15万元。杨善德对判决不服,向高级人民法院提出上诉。7月5日, 江苏省高级人民法院二审驳回其上诉,维持原判。杨善德曾是连云港市手握重权、红极一时的人物,他从仕途和荣誉的巅峰跌入深渊的经历发人深省。
On April 12, 2005, Intermediate People’s Court of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, conducted a trial on the case of Yang Shande, former director of the Bureau of Education, accepting bribes in accordance with the law.
