聚丙烯酸与淀粉是矿物处理工业应用最广泛的两种工业絮凝剂,它们分别是天然絮凝剂和合成絮凝剂的代表。聚丙烯酸与淀粉在细粒嵌布矿石和矿泥尤其是铁矿石和磷酸盐矿石的分选中被广泛用作选择性絮凝剂。对早期采用这两种絮凝剂进行氧化铁矿物(赤铁矿)/石英分选的研究工作所做的综合分析表明,淀粉的选择性更强。目前,美国的梯尔登选厂氧化铁隧岩矿石的选择性絮凝采用的就是淀粉。粘土尤其是蒙脱石的存在对分选的选择性会产生不利的影响,但在铁氧化物/粘土分离方面的研究工作迄今为止却甚少。
Polyacrylic acid and starch are the two most widely used industrial flocculants in the mineral processing industry, representing natural flocculants and synthetic flocculants, respectively. Polyacrylic acid and starch are widely used as selective flocculants in the sorting of finely divided ores and slimes, especially iron ores and phosphate ores. A comprehensive analysis of the earlier work on iron oxide (hematite) / quartz separation using both flocculants showed that starch is more selective. At present, the selective flocculation of the iron oxide tunnels in the United States, which is used in the Tierdon plant, is starch. The presence of clay, especially montmorillonite, can have a detrimental effect on the selectivity of the separation, but little has been done so far in the study of iron oxide / clay separation.
