China has a long tradition of sculpture and a large number of outstanding works have been handed down since then. However, most sculpture teaching in the Academy of Fine Arts today has a teaching system based on the tradition of national sculpture. Consciousness of establishing a national sculpture teaching system Consciousness? It does not seem. It should be acknowledged that in the past few thousand years we had never had a large-scale and systematic college-based teaching system in the teaching of sculpture. There are many things that remain in the state of “experience” and have not yet formed a relatively complete and systematic theory. Although there are some Modeling “formulas” and performance programs, but to carry out large-scale modern sculpture teaching is not enough. Precisely because of this, there were a group of people who aspired to study Western sculpture art far away from the oceans at the beginning of this century, studying and introducing western sculpture teaching models, and their contribution to the modern sculpture teaching in our country’s early stage should be affirmed. But this is a process, not an end, and our goal should be to develop the teaching system of our national sculpture. But so far we have a clear, conscious awareness of this issue?
