The etiology and prevention of recurrent spontaneous abortion is still an important issue to be solved. Maternal-fetal immune disorder is one of the current research hotspots. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are a subset of T-cells that control the autoimmune response in vivo. Studies suggest that Tregs may be involved in the complex immunomodulatory process in which the mother receives allogeneic embryos and help the fetus to evade maternal immune system attacks. Therefore, Tregs dysfunction may cause maternal immune rejection of the fetus, eventually leading to recurrent spontaneous abortion.
