  【Abstract】Teaching of music appreciation course in high school has been facing in many deficiencies for a long time.On regard of this,many music teachers has done some researches.The development of the times has brought great improvement in the education system.What’s more,unceasingly practice and innovation of music teachers also contribute to the fact that music appreciation course is becoming increasingly popular in high school music education.This paper analyzed the current trend of music appreciation course in high school,briefly stated the deficiencies in the teaching,with providing several solutions,hoping to contribute some methods for further development of music education in high school.

  After teaching reform,new curriculum standards pay more attention on the importance of the music appreciation course.However,there are still many deficiencies in practical teaching process.The author,based on teaching practice,briefly describes related issues in the teaching process of music appreciation course.
  1.Deficiencies in the Teaching Process of Music Appreciation Course in High School
  1.1Unreasonable Class Hour Arrangement.Under the examination-oriented education system of China,the music course,especially in high school,is vulnerable to exclusion of other courses.Music is not required in the college entrance examination,thus is often occupied by other courses in class hour planning.In this case,the teaching content of music appreciation course have to be reduced to accomplish teaching programs in limited class hours.
  1.2Lack of Attention on Music Appreciation Course.Many people considers music appreciation course as“music lesson”that teaches students to sing.The rise of“school songs” in the early 20th century is applicable for that age.However,due to the booming of Chinese music education,this idea is no longer suitable for contemporary music education.Music appreciation course should be paid more attention,with cognition of music from many angles.
  2.Solutions to the Deficiencies in the Teaching Process of Music Appreciation Course in High School
  2.1Appreciation with Comparison Method.Music appreciation means that through careful listening,the beauty of melody and rhythm of music can be transmitted to people,with feeling the change of writer’s inner world,and experiencing the essence of the song.As one of the most common methods that are implemented in music appreciation course,comparison appreciation works in the way that students listen and feel the music and understand its meaning with the help of the teacher.Different from creative play,comparison play enables students to truly appreciate the beauty of music.Generally,comparison methods are as follows:   a)Compare various parts of the same song.Different emotions are endowed in different parts of the same song.Emotions are stimulated by the shock of composers.Listeners can experience the feelings of composers through the highlight of emotion and the use of rhythm.For example,when teaching "Maiden’s Prayer",the teacher can use multimedia device for the students to listen the music and feel the shock of the beauty.With guidance of melody,rhythm,and key of the music from the teacher,students are able to truly feel the inherent beauty of rhythm and strength.Through the method of discussion,the teacher can organize the students to discuss and discover the changes in the music,to share their own feelings,and to compare the images in each part.
  b)Compare the same music through different performing forms.The standards of musical instruments are diversified.A piece of music can be performed by different instruments,with different rhythms.There is a lot of classical music in and out of China in high school music teaching material,which can show different rhythms when performed in different instruments.In the practical teaching of high school music,the teacher can adopt various appreciation forms,with performing in different instruments,to enable the students feel the different emotion shock of different instruments.
  2.2Title Appreciation Analysis.The title of music manifests the era when the composer created it.What manifests the inner feelings is the rhythm and melody of the music.Students can experience the beauty and image of the music more vividly when combining it with their own life experiences and feelings.When teaching music appreciation course,the teacher can start from the title of the music,to let the students feel the music from the title,and then experience the inner feeling change of the composer from the background of the music.Therefore,teachers should guide students to appreciate music titles,and help the students to understand the composer’s background.In this way,the music appreciation class will be successful with satisfactory results.For example,when appreciating“Butterfly Lovers”,teachers can play the music with violin because it is a piece of national music,and guide the students to understand the story when listening to the music.After listening,the teacher may suggest the students to rename the music with their own feelings and understanding.This appreciation form enables students to show individual characteristics and highlight the unique appreciation charm,with manifesting the main position of students in music teaching and learning.Then the teacher tells the story of Butterfly Lovers to students,or allows students who know the story to repeat.In this way,students are attracted by the story and plot,with their knowledge being broaden at the same time.Play the music again and let the students share their feelings.After understanding the story,their feelings will be quite different from the first time.The touching love story will leave deep impression on them,so that their imagination and musicianship will be improved.
  To sum up,music is a reflection of the beauty,while listening to music is a creation of beauty.In the practice of music appreciation course in high school,students’ interest should be paid more attention,to cultivate their aesthetic ability,and to achieve the teaching goal of music appreciation course.
